MANITOU SPRINGS CLIFF DWELLINGS

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the Cliff Dwellings in Colorado Springs. This is one of the most accessible examples of cliff dwellings architecture anywhere. These alcoves provided shelter from wind, rain, and snow, thus avoiding the effects of the harsh climate. The people of this advanced culture existed in four corners area from 1100 A.D. to 1300 A.D. This preserve was opened to the public in 1907 and represents the finest architecture of the Anasazi Culture acquired throughout Colorado and New Mexico. While  I was taking photos, I lost my balance and fell, breaking my ankle, springing my leg and injuring my hip pretty bad. After a trip to the ER, Rick and I had to end our road trip and head home so I could rest and recover....
